In 2020, Lisa pivoted from the corporate world to pursue her dream – founding Nrdy Byrd, her own motion design studio. With over two decades of industry experience, an extensive background in graphic design, and a Master’s degree in Multimedia Technology, she brings a wealth of expertise to every project.
Lisa’s creative eye for layout and design, combined with her passion for motion and character animation, allows her to craft captivating visual stories. Her unique blend of technical skills, attention to detail and artistic flair enables Lisa to elevate brands and bring concepts to life through engaging animated videos and dynamic digital illustrations.

Michelle’s Story
With a BFA in Graphic Communications, Michelle began her career developing corporate intranet sites and training programs. After pivoting to raise her children, she immersed herself in volunteer work, honing her natural ability to connect with students and understand their needs. This led Michelle to roles as a Special Education Behavioral Support Para-Professional and Marketing Manager for an education podcast, where she excelled in branding, promotional merchandise and system setup.
Becoming an Advanced Certified Trainer in the Nurtured Heart Approach taught her to build relationships based on compassion and inclusion. This prepared Michelle for coordinating a college program for students with diverse cognitive and developmental abilities, fueling her passion for marketing, branding and universal design.
No matter the position, Michelle consistently creates calm out of chaos through customizable systems and meticulous attention to detail. With a knack for uplifting environments and fostering joy, she seamlessly merges people skills with process management. Michelle’s approach leads with compassion, meets individuals where they are. She energizes success through teamwork and nurturing guidance.
Whether coordinating educational programs, managing marketing efforts, or supporting business startups, Michelle thrives on creating order and value amidst any project. She’s driven to making every experience better by cultivating systems that empower people to flourish.

OUR ORIGIN STORY: FROM FLEDGLINGS TO MOMS TO FULL-FLIGHT ENTREPRENEURS
We’re not just any birds of a feather – we’re twins who flocked together through thick and thin! We shared everything: DNA, a college major in Graphics Communication (talk about synchronized studying!), and a family legacy of consulting that had us business-minded before we could even tweet.
But like any good avian adventure, our paths diverged:
- Michelle spread her wings with HTML coding, heart-centered business strategies & program management, while working with students of all feathers to soar in both lower and higher ED roosts.
- Lisa flew into illustration, static & motion graphics, storyboards to completion, innovative development & design ideas, taking a high-tech flight path within the world of animation, even migrating to a Masters in Multimedia Technology!
THE HATCH OF NRDY BYRD: A PECK OF INSPIRATION
Picture this: Lisa’s gazing at her bird mural, pondering life’s great questions (like “Why don’t birds wear pants?”). Suddenly, Michelle chirps up: “You know, we’re so techy, we’re basically nerds who are bird-brained about design… Wait a minute! Nerdy + Birds = Nrdy Byrd!” But drop the “e” and “i” because we are cool Nyrds! (at least we think so).
And just like that, our brand was born faster than you can say “Ctrl+Alt_Tweet”!
NAVIGATING LIFE’S UNEXPECTED CURRENTS
Two years ago, life threw us a curveball (or should we say, a rogue wind gust?). Our dad suffered a severe stroke and passed away 6 weeks later leaving our mom (his wife of 56 years), who has progressing vascular dementia. We suddenly became our mom’s full-time caregivers. But did we let it clip our wings? Heck no! We approached this challenge like true Nrdy Byrd’s – with cartons of creativity, compassion and a dash of tech-savvy problem-solving.

Motivated by our experiences, we transformed Nrdy Byrd from a freelance operation into a full-fledged business. Our goal: to provide high-quality, custom creative animation services that help clients with branding clarity and effectively communicate their messages, while fostering a balanced and heart-centered work relationship. Armed as a former Vice-President to the family consulting biz, equipped with a Secretarial Curriculum Science-Research Diploma and years of administrative wizardry, Dotte’s fingers fly faster than hummingbird wings. She’s our go-to gal for catching sneaky typos and polishing our prose to perfection.
When she’s not defending the English language from rogue commas, you’ll hear her chirping her favorite questions: “Do you mean funny ha-ha or funny peculiar?” and “if you can’t laugh, what’s the point?”
With Dotte on our team, we’re always ready for a good cachinnate ~ and impeccable edited content! When you ask her if she wants to go out for desert (oops Dotte edited this…it’s deSSert), her reply is always with a squawking, “You had me at HELLO!”
