Lisa’s Story
The creative force behind Nrdy Byrd. With an MS in Multimedia Technology, a BFA in Graphic Communications and 20+ years of industry experience, Lisa brings stories to life through custom 2D animation and motion design.
Her creative eye for layout, character and movement allows her to craft visual narratives that don’t just inform, they resonate. Whether it’s an explainer video, an animated logo, or a full brand motion system, Lisa’s technical precision and artistic heart make her the ideal partner for businesses ready to move people.

Michelle’s
Story
Michelle is the Creative Director who makes sure your vision doesn’t just get heard, it gets built. With a BFA in Graphic Communications and a background spanning corporate systems, special education and program development, all fields built on one core skill: understanding what someone actually needs and building the clearest possible path to get them there.
At Nrdy Byrd, she leads creative strategy, brand voice and the client experience that makes this studio feel different from the very first conversation.
The thing clients say they didn’t expect? Feeling finally understood.
Our story
Where Twins, Tech, and Tenderness Take Flight!
We’re Lisa and Michelle, identical twin sisters, lifelong collaborators and the two hearts behind Nrdy Byrd. We shared everything growing up: DNA, a college major in Graphic Communications and an obsession with design that started long before we had the vocabulary for it.
Same roots. Different flight paths.
Our family legacy of consulting had us business-minded before we could even tweet. But life took us in different directions for a while.
Michelle spread her wings into corporate system, heart-centered education and program development, building a career around making complex things accessible for people who needed someone in their corner.
Lisa flew deeper into animation, illustration and motion design, earning a Master’s in Multimedia Technology and logging 20+ years in an industry she genuinely loves.
Same DNA. Completely different paths. Until one day, we flew back together.
How the name happened.
One afternoon, Lisa was staring at her bird mural when Michelle said: “You know, we’re so techy, we’re basically nerds who are bird-brained about design…wait. Nerdy + Birds = Nrdy Byrd.”
Drop the “e” and the “i”, because we are cool Nyrds. (At least we think so.)
And just like that, a studio was born.
The people who made us who we are.
Nrdy Byrd wouldn’t exist without the two people who built the nest first.
Our dad was the kind of man who brought joy into every room he walked into, generous, funny, endlessly supportive and always the first to believe we could do anything we set our minds to. He was the CPU to our motherboard long before we knew what that meant. His consulting legacy lives in the way we run this business, with integrity, with heart and with the belief that relationships matter more than transactions.
We lost him suddenly, and carry him with us in everything we build.
Our mom was his partner of 56 years and the quiet strength behind everything our family stood for. She showed us what it looked like to love someone completely and to show up every single day, even when it was hard.
We became their caregivers. And rather than stepping back from Nrdy Byrd, we leaned in, because building something meaningful felt like the most honest way to honor the people who taught us what meaningful looks like.
What we’re building and why.
Nrdy Byrd exists for the heart-centered entrepreneur who has built something beautiful and just needs the world to finally see it the way they do.
We know what it feels like to pour everything into something you love. We know what it costs. And we know that the right creative partner, one who actually listens, who gets your vision, who treats your brand with the same care you do, changes everything.
That’s what we’re here to be.
From our nest to yours, we can’t wait to help you build something worth watching.

Dotte | Honorary Editor In Chief
Our mom, Dotte, was the heart behind the scenes, armed with a Secretarial Curriculum Science-Research Diploma, decades of administrative excellence and fingers that flew faster than hummingbird wings. She was our go-to gal for catching sneaky typos and polishing our prose to perfection.
When she wasn’t defending the English language from rogue commas, you’d hear her chirping her favorite questions: “Do you mean funny ha-ha or funny peculiar?” and “if you can’t laugh, what’s the point?”
Dotte taught us that business should be built with both precision and joy, that excellence and laughter aren’t opposites, but partners. Her positivity, kindness and inclusivity shapes how we serve our clients today.
She recently passed away in January 2026 after a courageous journey with vascular dementia. We were honored to care for her in our homes during Nrdy Byrd’s founding years, and her lessons about patience, humor and heart-centered work will be her legacy in our nest.
When you ask her if she wants to go out for dessert, we hear her squawking reply: “You had me at HELLO!” With Dotte watching over our nest we are always ready for a good cachinnate ~ and impeccable edited content.
